The Aurora project uses the same concept and they're broken with Overwatch as well. I know my DLL replacement still works because it runs fine in the older version of the ChromaSDK sample application and my Keyboard Visualizer. My DLL replacement used to work and stopped working some time ago and now that I found this commit I know why. Instead, Razer has apparently worked with Blizzard to lock out any such development from working with Overwatch. This would also be very beneficial for Wine on Linux as we could create a ChromaSDK DLL that could send data to OpenRazer, ckb-next, etc. I was trying to write a replacement for the ChromaSDK DLL that forwarded lighting commands on to other lighting SDKs and reverse engineered implementations. The RGB ecosystem is already fragmented to all hell and back, the last thing we need is deliberate lockdowns to prevent open source developers from creating unified systems to bring them together. This means that games and apps using the Chroma SDK will be able to verify that the DLL is the official Razer DLL and not a third-party replacement. Long story short, Razer is apparently pushing for DLL verification on the Chroma SDK. You can do so by simply clicking flair under your link!
